Dead Rising 2 Review

For those who like to kill zombies the latest Dead Rising was an absolute riot. You have to kill hordes of zombies with some of the most interesting weapons you can find in any game. Dead Rising 2 offers more of the same with some changes for the new zombie-killing fun added.

This time you can play as Chuck Greene, who is a motocross rider in a town called Casino Fortune City. The city is filled with zombies of all shapes and sizes and your goal is to kill them.

At the beginning of the game you have two chainsaws related to your bike when you cross an arena filled with zombies. So from the start, you’re splitting some of the zombie population.

Finally, we learn that zombies are loose in the city and you must take refuge in the safe house until the military arrives. You also learn that your daughter was bitten by a zombie once and keep it from turning on itself one, you have to keep giving Zombrex doses every twelve hours. Clearly, Zombrex is not something that is lying around, then you have to hunt for him in the city and make sure you give your daughter on time.
The game has a clock that runs in the background, which tells you what time it is and, more importantly, how much time is left to complete your current objective. Most targets are time based and you have to find something or someone, somewhere dispersed in the city in a short time before the time runs out. It would have been easy in the city had not been filled with zombies waiting to eat your brain.
The zombies are very, uh … zombie-like. They wander aimlessly around the place, but when you’re up, they will move towards you to attack you. Sometimes, however, they ignore you as you pass by. Of course, you can easily get their attention by smacking a large number of items scattered around.
It may be a baseball bat, a metal pipe or one of the boards in front of stores. Sometimes, you can also find a chainsaw, which offer a zombie killed more satisfying experience. You can also use a firearm, but it is more difficult than using other weapons, because you are looking for a zombie, you can easily attacked by the others behind you. It is easier to swing a bat and kill multiple enemies at once, choose one at a time with a gun. You can spill blood in the game enough to fill a blood bank and you continue to fight against you will see your character is bloody, but strangely there are no traces of blood on his clothes in the cut scenes.
In Dead Rising 2, you can combine the weapons in a certain way to make them even more deadly. You will find workshops throughout the city and you keep playing, you’ll earn more PP points mainly for the murder of style. These unlock more options on how you can combine weapons. For example, we have managed to combine the baseball bat with a lot of nails for smacking zombies even more fun. You unlock more of these opportunities, but you can not combine weapons, as it must be one of the options the game offers.

We played the PS3 version of games and the graphics were very good with good use of lights, and reminded me of the graphics in Battlefield: Bad Company 2. The sound was also good, as every time the saw met Zombie Flesh it produces a satisfactory gore would a silly smile on many faces. I noticed that the game had a load of long periods and they also occur frequently, whenever you have to move from one place to another.
Throughout our time with the game we came out impressed and we hope for action zombie killing a lot more when the game finally launches September 28th on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
